Beauty and the Beast. I was the type of little girl who always felt that she could love a beast. I'm still that type of girl, actually.

I had a wicked great time at the Maritime Tattoo Festival! I'm sure you all assumed that from the drunken posting. I set aside this weekend to play, and did I ever! I haven't spent my laundry money on beer since I was in college. It was quite excellent.

However, this has made me realize that I don't really want a normal job anymore. I'm planning on doing my Masters in Library Science and Information Systems and starting in January. I've got the application half done, and I need to square up my academic references. I think I will also try to get a tattoo artist apprenticeship at the same time I am going to school. That way I could potentially have two careers when I am done! I just need to make sure there is some money coming in so I can deal with the unpaid apprenticeship hours.

The thing is, I am happy looking the way I look, and there are still so many things I haven't done to my body yet that I want to do. A normal job just doesn't give me the freedom to do it. Seriously, I can't be the freak I want to be in the regular world. I loved seeing all those modified people. I loved that the only time I was stared at was because someone was admiring my work. It really did feel like a big tribe.

Also, I think I would be a really awesome tattoo artist, and have wanted to do it forever.

Seriously.

I'm going to Cape Breton for Lynda's funeral. I've been sipping wine all evening, I did some baking, I haven't packed. Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck.

To everyone who has been touched by our amazing sister and daughter, we regret and sadly announce her passing. She left this world today peacefully surrounded by loved ones. There will be a visitation followed by a funeral service Saturday, January 10th at MacGillivary's Funeral Home in Glace Bay. Thank you so much for your prayers and support over... Simple, Progressive, and Sensual

Ukiyo-e (浮世絵, Ukiyo-e), "pictures of the floating world", is a genre of Japaneseand paintings produced between the 17th and the 20th centuries. it mostly featured landscapes, historic tales, theatre, and pleasure. Ukiyo is a rather impetuous urban culture that has bloomed in popularity. Although the Japanese were more strict and had many prohibitions it did not affect the rising merchant class and therefore became a floating art form that did not bind itself to the normal ideals of society.

People that chose Ukiyo-e art tend to be more simplistic yet elegant. They don't care much about new style but are comfortable in creating their own. They like the idea of living for the moment and enjoy giving and receiving pleasure. They may be more agreeable than other people and do not like to argue. They do not mind following traditions but are not afraid to move forward to experience other ideas in life. They tend to enjoy nature and the outdoors. They do not mind being more adventurous in their sexual experiences. They enjoy being popular and like being noticed. They have their own unique style of dress and of presenting themselves. They may also tend to be more business oriented or at the very least interested in money making adventures. They might make good entrepreneurs. They are progressive and adaptable.

This is a picture the day after it was done, so it's still all shiny from the ointment I used on it.

I'm alive--I had tonsillitis. In fact, I think I STILL have tonsillitis. Argh. More doctor trips for me.

I am freshly tattooed as of last weekend--I will post pictures. I bought myself a digital camera! My first one! It was silly cheap, and I got an 8G memory card too.

I also have a drum carder for fibre processing. I built up a lot of credit selling my handspun yarns at The Loop on Barrington, and was able to mostly pay for it with that! So awesome.

Bellydance teaching ten hours a week on top of my regular full time job? So hard. I'm dropping a night next term. It will take me from 10 to 8 hours, and give me my Tuesday nights free.

WTF?

How the hell did I end up with tonsillitis? Seriously? Gah.

New tattoo outline is still healing fine.

Kind of a crap picture cause I have a crap camera and my friend Deb is a technophobe who was both stoned and sleepy... But that's the outline! At the end my artist Kyle looked at me and said, "I think I lied when I said we could do this in one sitting." Hee! I kinda figured. Man he rocks. Kyle at Sin on Skin people! See him, he is brilliant.
